Prize Ceremony Conduct

In professional padel, the prize ceremony is an official part of the tournament. The FIP regulations and professional tour rules place an obligation on players to attend and conduct themselves appropriately during these events. See code of conduct for the general conduct rules that apply throughout a tournament, including penalties for misconduct.
Obligation to Attend
Players who have competed in a final, semi-final, or other designated round that includes a prize presentation are required to attend the ceremony. This applies to:
- All four finalists at the end of a tournament
- Any round where a trophy, prize, or award is formally presented
- Any ceremony specified in the tournament regulations
Skipping the prize ceremony without a valid, approved reason (such as a medical emergency or other exceptional circumstance) is considered a breach of professional obligations and may result in fines or other sanctions under the relevant tour regulations.
Conduct During the Ceremony
Players must:
- Present themselves in appropriate attire (tournament or sponsor-approved clothing where applicable)
- Accept the trophy, medal, or prize in a respectful manner
- Behave with sportsmanship towards opponents and tournament officials
- Not make statements or gestures that are disrespectful, discriminatory, or contrary to the sport’s values during the ceremony
Post-Match Media Obligations
Alongside the prize ceremony, professional tours typically require players to attend a post-match press conference or media mixed zone. These obligations are set out in the specific tour player agreements and are separate from (though related to) the prize ceremony requirements.
Refusing media access without authorised reason is also a disciplinary matter under professional tour regulations.
Application to Amateur Play
Prize ceremony conduct rules apply only to formally organised competitions. There are no mandatory conduct obligations for recreational or club-level post-match gatherings.
